Special congratulations to Christina Waddy, winner of the Joseph Doyle Award for 2009 for achieving the highest overall mark on this year’s CMRE.
This year, the CMRE was written on June 25 in six cities across the country. There were 31 CMRE writers, the highest number ever and a 61.3% increase over last year.
With 28 successful writers, the overall pass rate in 2009 was 90%, up from 74% in 2008 and from 52% on average over the past four years.
We attribute the higher success rate, in large measure, to (i) complimentary distribution of the CMRE Study Guide to all who inquired about writing the CMRE; and (ii) to the CMRE Prep Workshops (offered for the second time in 2009) that were held in Montreal and Toronto. Eighteen CMRE writers took advantage of the CMRE Prep Workshop this year.
In response to member demand, there will be two sittings of the CMRE in 2010. The next CMRE will be held on January 29, 2010 and will be offered in both English and French.
CMRE Prep Workshops will also be offered in both official languages. The French Prep Workshop will be held in Montreal on January 11-12, 2010, and English Prep Workshops will be held in Toronto on January 15-16, 2010 and in Vancouver on January 8-9, 2010.
We encourage all members who aspire to attain the CMRP designation to order the CMRE Study Guide and start preparing for next January’s CMRE.
MRIA’s CMRP or PARM (Professionnel agréé en recherche marketing) certifies the designation holder’s high level of knowledge and capability in marketing research theory and practice, and adherence to the rigorous ethical standards set out in MRIA’s Code of Conduct and Good Practice.
By earning the CMRP designation, MRIA members

For more information on attaining the CMRP designation and for a complete list of all MRIA CMRPs, visit the MRIA website. Here is what two highly respected members of the marketing, survey and public opinion research and market intelligence profession have to say about the CMRP designation:
“We are strongly supportive of our industry’s professional accreditation program and proud that the vast majority of our professional research staff now have the CMRP designation. The CMRP designation is quickly becoming a recognized requirement for our industry.”
Don Mills, CMRP

“Achieving the CMRP designation was a capstone moment in my career. Along with the experience and reputation I gained in the qualitative research industry, my time on the PMRS and MRIA national board, and the advantage of starting out in smaller research companies where you had to wear many different hats, it helped me get where I am today. The CMRP added credentials to my name when I ran my own consulting practice and when I taught for three years at BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology). The honor in having the exam developed and marked by industry gurus, helped validate that I’ve got a broad skill set to bring to the table. Now I feel part of an elite group of researchers who have seen the value and importance in testing and certifying their knowledge base, and who demonstrate the ongoing high research and ethical standards which being a CMRP requires. I’m proud to hang the CMRP designation on my wall at Vision Critical and to encourage others to pursue the designation.”
